Synopsis
- Write a couple of sentences.
Lesson Outline
- Highly condensed outline of key movements
-
- Initial exploration (right foot painting forward/backward)
- Lie on your back, both feet standing.
- Imagine the right sole is covered in paint.
- Paint forward and backward in the plane of the leg.
- Keep the movement light and uniform, as if sliding a brush.
- Rest and compare sensations between legs.
- Comparing positions of the left leg
- Right foot continues painting forward/backward.
- 2a. Try with the left leg long. Notice reach and boundaries.
- 2b. Try with the left leg standing. Compare ease and differences.
- Side-to-side painting (right foot)
- With right foot standing, paint side-to-side.
- Let the foot move more than the knee.
- Keep the whole sole in contact with the floor.
- 3a. Try with left leg long, extended sideways.
- 3b. Try with left leg standing. Compare.
- Rest.
- On the stomach – bending knees
- Lie on stomach, knees bent upward.
- Bring right leg toward the body, then left, each separately.
- Compare differences between legs.
- Return to the back and rest.
- Painting with the left foot (forward/backward)
- Left foot paints in the plane of the leg, many repetitions.
- Notice what it does to the body, head, and chest.
- 5a. Extend right leg while continuing.
- 5b. Return right foot to standing and compare.
- Rest.
- Side-to-side painting (left foot)
- With left foot standing, paint side-to-side.
- Let the foot go further than the knee, like a brush.
- 6a. Extend right leg and continue.
- 6b. Return right foot to standing.
- 6c. Rest on the stomach, bending each leg lightly like painting. Compare.
- Return to the back and rest.
- Right foot circles
- Recall four points: forward, back, right, left.
- 7a. Connect them with the sole of the right foot.
- 7b. Draw a circle slowly and smoothly.
- 7c. Extend left leg and continue.
- 7d. Return left foot standing, reverse direction.
- Rest.
- Left foot circles
- Repeat the four-point circle exploration with the left foot.
- 8a. Right foot long.
- 8b. Change direction.
- 8c. Right foot standing.
- Rest.
- Two feet circles together
- Paint with both feet at once, making circles.
- Notice timing differences between the two legs.
- Sense how pelvis alignment influences symmetry.
- 9a. Change direction.
- Rest.
- On the stomach – two legs
- Lying face down, circle both legs together.
- 10a. Explore both same-direction and opposite-direction circles.
- Compare how right and left participate.
- 10b. Do circles with one leg at a time.
- 10c. Explore slow circles, then faster ones, noticing smoothness.
- 10d. Alternate directions.
- Rest.
- 11. Back again – two-foot circles refined
- On the back, both feet standing.
- Explore two-foot circles again, smoother than before.
- 11a. Feet and knees together, ten circles each direction.
- 11b. Compare range of foot vs knee movement.
- 11c. Slow circles, then quicker ones.
- 11d. Change direction multiple times.
- Rest.
- 12 Closing sequence
- On stomach, circle with both legs simultaneously, same direction.
- Change direction.
- Return to the back, sense pelvis, chest, and breathing.
- Roll to the side, come up to standing.
- Initial exploration (right foot painting forward/backward)
