Synopsis
- Write a couple of sentences.
Lesson Outline
-
Initial scan (sitting). Notice your sitting posture, the position of the pelvis, and the ease of head movement before beginning.
1 Head tilt with one hand supporting the head. Right leg folded back, left hand on the floor, right hand on the left temple. Tilt the head to the right while allowing the right hip, ribs, clavicle, and shoulder blade to participate. Observe how the movement is organized through the whole spine rather than the neck alone.
2 Repeat on the opposite side. Change the legs and hands, repeat the head tilt to the left, compare both sides, then rest and notice changes in head movement and sitting.
3–3a Head, eyes, and arm turning together. Right leg folded back, hold the right ankle with the right hand, extend the left arm to the side. Follow the moving hand with the eyes and head as the arm turns backward. Repeat with greater awareness of the pelvis, chest, spine, and right hip initiating the movement.
4 Repeat on the opposite side. Mirror the previous exploration and compare the two directions before resting.
5 Searching for the elbow. Right leg folded back, hold the ankle with the right hand, place the left hand at the side of the head. Search for the left elbow with the eyes without changing the head position, allowing the ribs, clavicles, shoulder blades, and pelvis to organize the movement. Repeat with increasing ease.
6 Repeat on the opposite side. Mirror the previous exploration, then rest and compare head turning.
7–7a Side reaching. Right leg folded back, lean on the left hand, extend the right arm with the palm up. Reach farther to the side without lifting the arm first, noticing how the pelvis shifts, one sitting bone grounds, and the other lifts. Repeat with less effort.
8–8a Refining the side reach. Continue the same movement more comfortably until the supporting hand can naturally become lighter. Repeat on the opposite side and compare organization.
9 Elbows lowering with hands interlaced behind the head. Right leg folded back, fingers interlaced behind the head. Alternate lowering the right and left elbows while sitting tall, allowing the ribs, chest, pelvis, and lower leg to participate. Notice which side is more restricted.
10 Repeat on the opposite side. Change the legs and interlace the fingers the non-habitual way. Compare sitting, then rest and observe the contact of the pelvis and shoulders with the floor.
Final scan (standing). Stand quietly and notice changes in posture, balance, head movement, and overall organization compared to the beginning of the lesson
