Synopsis

  • Sit with soles of the feet together. Differentiate side bending of head an lifting/lowering shoulders. Also: hand on the floor to the side and use it to push thoracic spine to the side. Also: alternate sit bones.

Lesson Outline

    1. Sit comfortably with the soles of the feet together and observe side bending of the head to the right.
    2. Bend the head to the right while lowering the right shoulder.
    3. Separate the movements:
      • head only,
      • right shoulder only,
      • then combine them again.
    4. Bend the head to the right while lowering the left shoulder.
    5. Keep the head to the right and lift/lower the left shoulder.
    6. Move the shoulders without the head:
      • right shoulder down,
      • left shoulder up.
    7. Combine:
      • head right,
      • right shoulder down,
      • left shoulder up.
    8. Compare head movement to both sides. Rest.
    9. Repeat the entire sequence to the left:
      • head left,
      • head + left shoulder down,
      • left shoulder alone,
      • head + left shoulder,
      • head left with right shoulder lifting.
    10. Move the shoulders only:
      • right shoulder up,
      • left shoulder down,
      • then combine with head left.
    11. Lean on the left hand with the right hand on the right temple.
      • Shift the trunk onto the right sit bone.
      • Allow the spine to side-bend.
      • Re-test head left.
    12. Repeat on the opposite side:
      • lean on the right hand,
      • left hand on the left temple,
      • shift onto the left sit bone.
    13. Repeat shoulder pattern:
      • right shoulder down,
      • left shoulder up,
      • first without the head,
      • then with head left,
      • then with head right.
    14. Reverse the shoulder organization:
      • right shoulder up,
      • left shoulder down,
      • combine with head left,
      • then head right.
    15. Repeat supported side-bending:
      • hand on the temple,
      • shift weight between the right and left sit bones while maintaining gentle support of the head.
    16. Repeat on the opposite side.
    17. Explore the relationship between head side-bending and the sit bones:
      • head right → shift between sit bones,
      • head left → shift between sit bones.
    18. Compare two coordinations:
      • head toward the lifting sit bone, and
      • head toward the weighted sit bone.
    19. Add arm support on the floor while alternating weight between the sit bones and coordinating the head.
    20. Increase the speed gradually while allowing the entire spine to participate.
    21. Extend both arms sideways at shoulder height and repeat the movement.
    22. Stand and walk, observing changes in the organization of the head, shoulders, spine, and pelvis.
