Synopsis
- Sitting and kneeling, nose clock, midline, painting the head, also combining nose clock with twisting
Lesson Outline
- Sit on the floor
- Picture a clock in front of face. Turn the big hand around using the nose
- Notice the breath
- Notice the uniformity of the circle
- Close the eyes
- Change the direction
- notice the same elements
- Continue, attending to the ear lobe
- Change the direction, attend to the ear lobe
- it is difficult to discern what shape the lobe makes
- Divide the face in half, descend attention from crown to sternum, and back and down the neck
- Use finger to trace the midline
- Repeat with the other index finger
- Close eyes, follow the midline from chest to back of neck
- Circle the nose, and still follow the midline, down and back up
- Reverse the direction of the circle while following the midline
- Close eyes, use an imagined paintbrush in the left hand to paint the left side of the head from crown to ear to shoulder
- Continue without using the left hand, painting progressively to back of head
- Continue on the face and front half of the left side
- Sense and compare the sides
- Stand right foot, kneel left knee. Extend arms at shoulder height
- Turn torso right. Turn torso left. Ease?
- Turn nose while turning body
- Turn torso right, and left. Which is easier?
- Stay to the easier side, and turn nose. Do the hands move?
- Turn torso right. Turn torso left. Ease?
- Paint the left side of the head with horizontal stripes, starting at the height of the ear
- Sense the quality of the left side now
- Change over the legs, lift arms to sides with palms up
- Turn the shoulders left, and right. Choose the simpler side
- Turn the nose in a circle
- Turn the shoulders left, and right. Choose the simpler side
- Stand, walk
- Continue without using the left hand, painting progressively to back of head
