  • Alexander Yanai Vol 11
  • Reel 35, Track 1, Lesson 2 (According to the german edition there is neither a title, nor a source like above on the hebrew CD’s.)

Synopsis

  • Perhaps “arms interlaced on the chest” would be more descriptive.
  • Mostly in side-lying on the R side, you cross your arms in front of your chest and lift the elbow away/forwards. In the end, lying on your back with the soles of your feet together and knees open to the side, you do the same thing until you can touch that elbow to the inside of the opposite knee. (?!)

Lesson Outline

  1. Sit, cross arms. Cross the other way. Switch back and forth. Same thing on the back.
  2. On R side, knees bent. Cross arms. Do it with the L hand in crook of the R elbow, and the R hand resting on the L ribs. Sit up to clarify. Lying on R side with arms like this, take the L elbow forward and return. (Not the shoulder, not rolling.)
    • Then quickly. Then rest (staying on side).
    • Take shoulder forward–feel that back of the head goes backwards.
    • Take just elbow forward. Head does something different.
    • Take the head forward towards the elbow as you take the elbow, towards upper arm touching face.
  3. Lie in R side, same crossing of arms. Take elbow forwards & lift head from the floor, head towards L upper arm.
    • Small, quick. (Something should happen in the pelvis.)
    • Take shoulder towards face and face towards shoulder.
    • Lift ear and shoulder towards one another,
    • Lift head quickly, doing nothing with the arms.
    • Lift face and shoulder towards one another.
    • In the rest, roll the head from side to side.
  4. Lie on your back, knees bent and open, soles of the feet together. Arms crossed as before, and lift your elbow in the direction of the ceiling.
    • The farther you go, the vertebrae at the base of the neck will lift and the head will tilt backwards, the the L knee lifts from the floor and the R knee goes towards the floor
    • The L elbow can contact the inside of the R knee. [Really?]
    • In the rest, roll the head.
  5. Lie in R side, same crossing of arms. Lift head and take shoulder towards head, and then as you lower the shoulder, lift the hip–lifting your arm as you lower your shoulder and bring up your hip.
    • Then stay up and take the L shoulder towards the hip and towards the head.
    • Take shoulder towards face and face towards shoulder.
    • Then return to the original movement. It is so much easier because now you let the lumbar vertebrae participate, ribs on the R lift, and the L hip to go down.
  6. Return to lying on R side, same crossing, take the L shoulder backward.
  7. (Lesson ends)
