- The Master Moves – Mann Ranch Workshop Collection
Synopsis
- Unilateral, flexing the joints of the left leg, pressing or lifting the left hip, lifting the shoulders, lifting the head or not lifting the head, coming towards sitting with the head flexed, or not flexed. Much in the imagination, or minimal movement. MF’s goal in teaching the lesson is unclear (to me). Possibly ? to find the center of the body, ?frog leg action, ?integration of the whole body in a movement. This powerful lesson leaves the students plenty of freedom to explore themselves due to MF’s lack of explicit clarity of purpose. (BenP)
Lesson Outline
- Highly condensed outline of key movements
- Action: Unilateral. flex the ankle, flex the knee, feel the hip press to the floor, or when the leg straightens, lift from the floor. Hold the arms in an O in front of the chest and imagine bringing the left knee and the face together. Lift the shoulders and sternum but not the head. Lift the shoulders and the head. Come to sitting, or think about coming to sitting, by using this action, once with the head flexing, and once with the head not flexing (i.e. hanging back). (BenP)
Focus of the teaching
- lots in imagination, or with minimal movement.
